There you go. They actually have a word for the "Friday the 13th" superstition. Paraskevidekatriaphobics, don't ask me how to pronounce it or to say it ten times fast, I can't even spit that one out once. Some believe that in the Bible, Christ was said to have been crucified on a Friday and the number of guests at the Last Supper were 13 and this is where the ‘Friday the 13th' reference originated from. The number 13 seems to be such an unlucky number that their is rarely a 13th floor in taller buildings. This is the second Friday the 13th this year and if we manage to get through this one relatively unscathed, we are free and clear until November. So cross your fingers, steer clear of ladders and black cats and have a great day!

That's really interesting about the 13th. I just have to say though, that my mother is the 13th child in her family, and it's always been lucky for her! ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's some word. The 13th never bothered me. After all, I live with a black cat.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a word! I never knew that about the bible either.

ReplyDeleteFriday the 13th are actually lucky for me. My husband and I started dating on a Friday the 13th. We always try to celebrate them since one brought us together.
ReplyDeleteYikes, imagine having to spell that one on the Spelling bee!
ReplyDeleteI feel pretty safe, I live with two black cats, so I am not too worried!

Fear of the number 13 is Triskadekaphobia! I don't think I spelled it right though...
