Just noticed the other day that we have some new construction. A single family dwelling has been built with a young family moving in. Looks like mom is doing a little nesting before the little ones arrive.

we lay under the stars,
spread out like a blanket of possibilities above us
they smile down, whispering secrets,
murmuring romanticism of 400 years;
Apollo’s prophesies,Juliet’s eyes.
so many dreams run wild up there, the dark canopy veiling reality,
disguising truth, a world of disillusionment,
blissful ignorance.
the four of us lie on the beach, running our fingers through the sand,
staring into the littered sky
it’s just the beginning, before we make vows to love in foreign cities,
crying into its darkness, stealing time
soon they fade out, their tiny faces blinking in the gold and pink horizon
they’re still there, waiting behind the sun.
it’s sad, sometimes, that
they can see everything and we cannot.
they remember our promises, we do not. ©
