Ozark Puzzle Quilt

In the making, pretty purples with florals kissed with blue and green, I am making a quilt that is near and dear to my heart. My mother taught this one to me a million years ago. We called it Ozark puzzle, but when I search for it now, it is known as Love Ring. I love it no matter what you want to call it.

Crazy Wavy Quilt

So much fun to quilt!

I wanted to do a wavy strip crazy quilt and came up with this

The fabric bundle to the right is going to be the backing

My #1 critic, Snicker's walked down the strip like it was the catwalk. Approved!

On the frames, with a few stitches. The freedom of  no stencils, no pencils, having made the decision a long time ago to do as much freehand as possible.

But every now and then I throw a few stitches in this upcoming beauty. It will be approx 42x42 when complete. The colours make a sweet combination and I have always loved the Lone Star Pattern.

I recently tried Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless foundation. Such a wonderful product. Just like applying lotion, it blends with ease, feels light and natural and looks really nice. Here's an amazing Custom Quilt in the traditional Tumbling Block Pattern. Ordered in black, grey and white, I was thrilled to find this treasure of a print with all the elements, in stripes. I just love the way the colours compliment each other to create this classic look. I am excited to say also that this quilt is finding its way to it's final destination, the furthest I have sent a quilt too: Istanbul, Turkey!

A long time in the making

In between other projects, I have been working on this "Beauty" The cross stitch blocks of Beauty and the Beast and The Rose were quite the undertaking as I usually do pieced quilts. I am so thrilled with the finished product. I found it hard to put down at times, had to set it aside on occasion to do other quilts, but finally decided to call it complete!

My Marigolds

I used to start my marigolds from seed. Each year I would collect the seeds from the spent flower buds and before I knew it I had shopping bags full of seeds. Then I went a couple years where I didn't use them to finding a drawer full of  seeds waiting for me this year. I didn't know if they would still want to grow for me, but I decide to blanket the ground with them. I had nothing to lose and look what I gained.

Success! 

So I had started the seeds late May/ early June and they took a while to flower. However, here we are well into September and they have plenty of blooming. What I would like to see is an earlier start but it's generally too cold for the seeds to germinate in April. I decided to do a little experiment. And lo and behold I was able to start these in a plastic ziploc on saturated paper towel.

These went from seed to sprouts in 3 days! I have the egg carton there for transplant later, just needing to get a little dirt. 

So it looks like I'll be able to get a decent hardy start for these next year and hopefully get a longer flowering season.

I've been working on this quilt to add to my layers. I still need a couple more borders to make this a full size quilt, but coming together quite nicely so far.
I love the burgundy and blues combination.

Crochet Spiral Beaded Necklace. I see them all the time now.

I  went on an adventure and tried my hand at making the crochet spiral beaded necklace. I keep seeing them all over the place and admiring them, I thought that would be so cool to make. It looked easy enough when I watched the online tutorials. mmmhmmm. It probably took me 20 tries to get it started, but once I got about an inch into it, the whole process had me so amazed and pleased with the results.

Pink Ribbon representing Breast Cancer, shadowed by Emerald Ribbon representing Liver Cancer, with "God Rays" of her favourite colours, this quilt top will be quilted with the heart motif in the circle of friends design, to be completed with embroidered inspirational words.

When the Ice Crystalz melt the flowers emerge

This table topper is created from the Ice Crystalz Pattern using a pretty floral with complimenting pink, greens and burgundy.

Lettuce just see if this works:

Why do I ever question you, oh Wise One?!? For real? Of course, why else would I tell you. So my dear sweet mother randomly tells me that I can grow my own romaine lettuce just by letting the bottom part sit in a bit of water and change the water every couple days. So here you have it, the first one was placed in on Monday and the second one on Wednesday. Today is Thursday and already I am amazed at these little guys. They were cut straight across and now look at them.

Romaine Lettuce is growing in my house!

This is more fun than watching Sea Monkeys grow, because you get to eat it afterwards!

Sunday, call it a week since first one started,  lettuce  peeking over top of glass.
